Statement of Christian Beliefs

The Scriptures:

We believe that the Holy Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) is the inspired Word of God written by men who were divinely guided.  It’s God’s revelation of Himself to us through which God communicates His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Word of God is without error, and therefore it is totally true and trustworthy.  God’s Word can’t be changed or modified.  We hold God’s Word as the highest authority in our life and use it in all in decisions making.  It describes God’s judgment and His plan of salvation. We read God’s Word everyday during dedicated quiet time with Him.  We also use God’s word to teach others during discipleship and when we share Jesus Christ to non-believers.

God:

We believe that there is only one and one living God.  He reveals Himself as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Sprit. The revelation of God as a Triune God is how the Scripture explains the nature and role of God. In a Triune God there is an indivisible oneness and yet different roles for each part. The Father is primarily viewed in scripture as The Creator and The Source of Life. The Son is primarily viewed as The Savior and The Redeemer, but God is also the Redeemer. God and Jesus are the same. God and the Holy Spirit are the same, and yet, they are distinctly three persons. God is the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and ruler of the universe.  We believe that God is in control of His creation and we believe that God is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent.  God is holy and can’t associate with sin, but at the same time, God is merciful and loving and shows love and forgiveness to those who come to Him.

God the Father:

We believe that God takes control of His universe and all of creation. We have called Him Father since the day we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We know that He is an all powerful God who knows everything. He has control over our life. God is the father to Christians and non-Christians because He is the creator of everything. The big difference between the two is that Christians know and recognize who the creator is and non-Christians deny the creator. God loves sinners but He hates sin. He can’t associate with sin, so there is judgment and condemnation of sinners who reject the good news of Jesus Christ. But the loving God made possible for all of humanity to become adopted children by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The Father’s primary desire for the world is to restore the broken relationship between God and His creation so that all creation would worship God and have an everlasting relationship with God.  He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.

The Church:

According to the New Testament teaching, the church is the gathering of baptized believers. The local church must be autonomous, observing the two ordinances of Christ which are baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism also symbolizes that a person, through faith in Christ, has passed from death to life and that this person has identified with Christ’s death and resurrection (Rom 6:3-5; Col 2:12). The Lord’s Supper symbolizes Jesus body and blood. It is an opportunity to obey a command of Christ and to recall his sacrifice for us, his presence with us and his certain return (1 Cor 11:24-28). Each congregation has privilege to server the church under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. Both men and women can serve as deacons and the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.

Cooperative work of Southern Baptist:

We believe that local church and the Cooperative Program (CP) work together with a common goal of reaching out people, both local and overseas, for the expansion of God’s kingdom. Whenever there is a need for greater corporate work it is necessary to create associations and conventions. Such organizations should not have authority over one another or over the churches. We do (will) participate with the Cooperative Program .  Through the association, local churches work directly with the state Baptist Convention in terms of gift giving and planning corporate work. Messengers are sent from local church to the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting to discuss and decide how gifts received from the states.

Baptism:

Baptism classes and services are offered quarterly as well as on an as-needed basis! If you want to make the personal and public decision and want to get baptized, please contact our Lead Pastor Israel Kim.

God the Son:

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  Jesus Christ is complete God and complete human. We believe that He is the eternal Son of God and as a human lived a life without sin. He was tempted but never sinned. Jesus Christ was obedient to God’s Word completely, fulfilling God’s divine plan of salvation by dying on the cross for the redemption of men from sin. We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is now in heaven seating at the right hand of God. We believer that Jesus Christ is the Mediator, fully God, fully man, bringing reconciliation between God and man. We believe in the return of Jesus Christ in power and glory, to judge the world and to finish God’s redemptive work.  Jesus Christ is in our (believers) heart right now and living in us (believers) through the work of the Holy Sprit.

God the Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. The Holy Spirit is the author of the Scriptures who used holy men by inspiring them to express God’s word in written form.  We believe that the Holy Spirit helps Christians to understand God’s Word. We believe that the Holy Spirit works in the salvation of men by convicting men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.  It is through the work of the Holy Spirit men experience regeneration that brings them into the Body of Christ. We also believe the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit comforts believers, develops Christian character and gives the spiritual gifts to serve God through His church. We believe the indwelling Spirit of God guarantees the redemption of all believers in the final day.  We believe that God empowers believers through the work of the Holy Spirit to serve and to glorify God.

Salvation:

Men separated from God need to restore their broken relationship by accepting Jesus Christ. Without this new birth man is destined to be lost for eternity.  We believe that Jesus Christ, shedding His blood on the cross, gives eternal redemption for those who believe in Him. Through the working of the Holy Spirit, man comes to realize his sinful status. Man must repent his sins and, by faith, accept Jesus Christ in his heart as Lord and Savior. We believe that a born-again Christian who has experienced true repentance will also experience spiritual growth. Through the indwelling presence and power of the Holy Spirit, a believer will experience progress toward moral and spiritual maturity.  “Once saved always saved” means that you don’t lose your salvation. Salvation offered by God through Jesus Christ is not temporary but eternal. God so loved the world that whoever believes in Jesus Christ shall not perish but have eternal life.
